Shoeshine Shadings

Here’s an oldie but goodie that’s perfect for all those short, sassy cuts that women are rocking this season. Instead of brushing color across the tips, add subtle shadings throughout the top layers. The trick: Use All-Nutrient Gel+ to make sections stand up, and to keep color effects subtle. Take a diagonal parting and apply the gel to the short hair to make it stand up. Position a foil behind the parting and lightly brush on a lightener or All-Nutrient permanent haircolor. Stay off the scalp. For a variation, crumple, then un-crumple the foil first to create “pockets” that will hold more color product. The gel coating will keep the effect subtle; your specific placement makes it fun.
